CAMERON COUNTY DATA CENTER UPDATE
Cameron County Judge Eddie Treviño, Jr. released a statement today addressing growing community concerns regarding the potential construction of a data center.
The Judge confirmed that the County is conducting due diligence and reviewing studies on the environmental impacts of such facilities, specifically regarding water and energy consumption. While acknowledging that the County is in "constant communication" with various business prospects including data centers, Treviño stated that as of now, no formal business proposal or permitting applications have been submitted. He also noted that the County has limited authority to restrict businesses that comply with all applicable standards.
