Once the County says "Yes," the project then moves to the City of South Padre Island. The park will submit official architectural drawings to the SPI Building Department to get the actual safety and construction permits.

While County Judge Eddie Treviño, Jr. released a statement emphasizing that no "formal business proposal" or permitting applications have been submitted yet, Cameron County Economic Development Director Ramiro Aleman confirmed in a separate interview that county officials have been in discussions with the developers for several months.
