BROWNSVILLE ADDING TWO NEW SPLASH PADS TO OLIVEIRA AND CABLER PARKS Brownsville is gearing up for the summer heat by bringing two brand-new splash pads to the city! The City of Brownsville and the Brownsville Community Improvement Corporation (BCIC) have officially filed permits to construct new aquatic play areas at both Joe & Tony Oliveira Park and Charles Martin Cabler Park. The combined investment for both splash pad projects is nearly $1 million, marking a huge quality-of-life upgrade for local families looking to cool off.

The larger of the two aquatic features is heading to Oliveira Park on El Paso Road. This $500,000 project will feature a massive 4,600-square-foot splash pad, perfectly timed to join the $2 million in broader park renovations currently underway there. Meanwhile, Cabler Park on Burnett Road will receive a $400,000, 1,700-square-foot splash pad, serving as a fantastic addition to the brand-new playground equipment that just opened in District 2 late last year. Construction on both splash pads is scheduled to kick off this spring on April 1, 2026, with a target completion date of August 1, 2026, just in time for the hottest part of the Texas summer.
