SPACEX PLANNING MASSIVE "STARSHIP PARK" & AMENITIES BUILDING AT STARBASE: It looks like Elon Musk's vision for the newly incorporated city of Starbase is taking a major leap forward! 🚀🌳 SpaceX has officially filed permits for a massive $13.8 million development titled "Starship Park" located along State Highway 4.

The project involves the ground-up construction of a 115,000-square-foot site that will feature a "monument park with an adjacent amenities building." The filings specifically list the facility name as "Building 42" a likely nod to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, where 42 is the "Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything." This strongly suggests the building will be a highly stylized, futuristic centerpiece rather than a standard municipal building.

This development perfectly aligns with SpaceX's recent push to expand Starbase from just an industrial launch site into a "world-class place to live" for its employees, which was a core argument when the area officially voted to incorporate as a city in May 2025. While the exact nature of the "monument" is unconfirmed, this park and massive Building 42 will likely serve as a central gathering hub, recreation center, or even a public-facing viewing area showcasing historic spacecraft.

Construction is scheduled to begin very soon on February 16, 2026, with a rapid target completion date of August 31, 2026.

In addition, a construction permit has been filed for an interior remodel of a 3,306 sq. ft. space at the center.

A recent study by WalletHub looked at 150 of the largest metropolitan areas to examine the most and least educated cities in the U.S. The data researchers examined ranged from adults 25 and older with a bachelor's degree or higher, as well as the racial education gap and the quality of public schools.

The findings were sobering, to say the least, where four Texas cities made the top 10 for least educated.

Out of 150 cities, Corpus Christi and Beaumont-Port Arthur, Texas were ranked 142 and 143, respectively. Then McAllen-Edinburg-Mission, Texas was ranked 148th followed by Brownsville-Harlingen at 149.
