Elon Musk confirms SpaceX is going public!

The biggest company in the RGV is hitting the stock market. After years of keeping SpaceX private, Elon Musk has officially confirmed a report by Ars Technica’s Eric Berger that the aerospace giant plans to go public.

When asked about the report stating SpaceX is preparing for an IPO, Musk replied simply on X:
"As usual, Eric is accurate."

The official details are out on the new centerpiece of Starbase.

SpaceX is moving forward with the $250,000,000 Gigabay manufacturing facility in Cameron County. The official TDLR filing confirms the massive factory will span 700,000 square feet and is scheduled to be completed by the end of December 2026.

CEO Elon Musk has described the facility as a "gigantic Borg cube," designed for building and storing rockets and fulfilling his goal of producing as many as 1,000 Starships per year.

SpaceX Scrubs Starship's 10th Test Flight Due to Weather

SpaceX has called off the planned test flight of its massive Starship rocket, designated Flight 10, from its Starbase facility in Texas this evening. The decision to scrub the launch was attributed to unfavorable weather conditions.

This marks the second consecutive day a launch attempt for this mission has been aborted.

SpaceX is building a massive new industrial facility, internally named "Gigabay," at its Starbase launch and production site. The project is a ground-up new construction of a 700,000-square-foot facility designed to accommodate and scale up SpaceX's manufacturing processes. The estimated cost for the construction is $250,000,000.

According to public statements, this facility is a key part of the plan to accelerate Starship production.

Construction is scheduled to begin on July 1, 2025, and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

FAA Approves 25 Starship Launches Per Year from South Texas

SpaceX just got the green light from the FAA to launch up to 25 Starship flights per year from its Starbase site.

On April 28, 2025, the Texas House State Affairs Committee narrowly voted 7–6 to reject Senate Bill 2188 and its counterpart, House Bill 4660. These bills sought to grant SpaceX expanded authority to close Boca Chica Beach and the only access road, Texas State Highway 4, during rocket launch operations. Currently, such closures require coordination with Cameron County authorities. The proposed legislation would have shifted that control directly to SpaceX and the mayor of the proposed city of Starbase. ​

The sample ballot for voters in the area around Starbase. They will be deciding whether to incorporate their community and form a local government. It's expected that the incorporation will pass, and with only one eligible candidate, Bobby Peden is set to become the first mayor.

Bobby Peden, has been an employee of SpaceX since 2013 and currently holds the position of VP - Texas Test and Launch at SpaceX.

SpaceX founder Elon Musk said Tuesday the aerospace company will move its headquarters from California to Texas after California Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a law preventing schools from requiring employees to notify parents if students request to use different ****** ouns—which Musk said was the “final straw.”

“WIFE OF ELON MUSK” ARRESTED AT SpaceX: On September 26, 2023, Cameron County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to SpaceX Industries in the Brownsville area, in reference to a criminal trespass.

Upon arrival, the Deputies made contact with SpaceX Security staff and took their statement. As per the security personnel, a female was found wandering inside an “only employees” building, she was asked to identify herself and she claimed to be “wife of Elon Musk”. The female was identified as Su Young Boudreau, 41 years old.

In the course of the investigation, Deputies discovered that Boudreau was not affiliated to Space X Industries, surveillance footage was obtained to corroborate the initial statements and it was confirmed that she was not the wife of Elon Musk.

After further investigation, a report was filed on September 25, 2023 and Boudreau was warned to stay away from SpaceX premises by CCSO Deputies.

Boudreau insisted she was heading home to her husband (Musk). Boudreau was placed under arrest and charged with CRIMINAL TRESPASS (Class A Misdemeanor).

Boudreau was transported and booked into Carrizalez-Rucker Detention center without further incident.
