Hidalgo County officials have released a statement that they are closely monitoring the federal government shutdown and its potential impact on local, federally funded programs.

According to Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez, essential services remain available at this time. Programs such as WIC, Head Start, and others are currently still in place.

The County stated they are in constant communication with state and federal partners and will share updates as more information becomes available.
